ROSEMONT, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A new gallery exhibit unveiled at O'Hare Airport this week honors U.S. veterans.

The exhibit is titled “American Heroes: Portraits of Service."

It's located in Terminal 3 and features portraits of 55 senior veterans from across the country who served America during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, captured by photographer Thomas Sanders.

Each portrait includes story boards and plagues for travelers to read about each veteran's service experience.

The exhibit is part of the bigger portfolio from Belmont Village Senior Living and has grown to over 1,000 photos over the last 14 years.

“Chicago’s airports are always looking for more ways to highlight the contributions of service members through efforts like these exhibits, regular Honor Flight Chicago trips to visit the national war memorials in Washington, D.C., and increased contracting opportunities for veteran-owned firms alongside other minority- and women-owned businesses," said CDA Commissioner Jamie Rhee in a statement.
