LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A New Jersey man was busted with what police in LaPorte County, Indiana say was about ten pounds of cocaine.
Juan Aquino, 52 was pulled over, according to police, because he was tailgating another driver on the Indiana Toll Road. The officer said he noticed dryer sheets, but no laundry. The dryer sheets can be used to mask smells.
Police said there was also a Bible in plain view and may have been a prop that could make an officer think the person is a good citizen, according to WSBT 22.
Aquino is alleged to have had cocaine under the passenger seat and in a hidden compartment in the center console. He’s facing felony charges for dealing in cocaine or a narcotic drug.
La Porte County Police Chief of Detectives Andy Hynek estimated the value of the drugs at about $30,000 and referred to it as as "a pretty substantial amount', WSBT 22 reports.
