A new report looks at which Illinois politicians make the grade when it comes to gun reform.

The 2025 Gun Safety Report Card is out, courtesy of the Gun Violence Prevention PAC.

“We issue this report card as often as we can after a legislative session adjourns so that constituents all over the state can see how their lawmakers are voting when it comes to public safety.”

President and CEO Kathleen Sances says 60-percent of lawmakers in the House and Senate were given A grades this year, while 30-percent failed on laws focused on homicide data, domestic violence prevention, safe gun storage and more.

“That lawmaker needs to represent what you want. We’ve been successful in activating constituents to reach out to their local representatives and say ‘we support this, we want you to support this.’”

The majority of Illinois Democrats fared well in the report, while Republican lawmakers received mostly F grades.
