(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A new trial has been ordered for a man who was found guilty of fatally shooting a 24-year old woman in Joliet Township in 2017.
Jeremy Boshears, 38, was said to have cried when Will County Judge Dave Carlson announced his decision to order a new trial for him.
The judge did not overturn a jury verdict and declare Boshears acquitted.
According to the Joliet Herald-News, Carlson indicated his decision was based on the accumulation of errors made by prosecutors and himself.
Prosecutors said bartender Katie Kearns' was shot to death at a bar where the Outlaws Motorcycle Club hung out in Joliet Township. Kearns' body was found in a barn in Kankakee County.
During his 2022 trial, Boshears testified that he did not kill Kearns.
