CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Five-year-old Allie was among those with a basket full of Easter eggs outside St. Michael’s Church in Old Town.

“[I got] maybe 100,” she said.

Allie’s mother Jessica said they hunt Easter eggs every year at the church, located on Cleveland Street near North Avenue. She said the kids weren’t the only ones enjoying the holiday.

“Mimosas,” she laughed. “It’s the best Easter you can imagine.”

Fr. Larry Sanders, the pastor at St. Michael’s Church, said they couldn’t have asked for better weather.

“We had, like, 1,700 eggs out here, and they were gone within 15 minutes,” Sanders said. “It was amazing.

Sanders said the church gave eggs out to its parishioners, who returned them over the past few weeks — stuffed with candy.

After the hunt, Allie said she planned to share some of her candy with her cousin.
