(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The city of Chicago and state of Illinois are in a new era without masks and vaccine mandates for bars and restaurants. But not every establishment is on board.
Beermiscuous, a bar in Lake View, tweeted a photo of its co-owner Austin Harvey getting his fourth shot of the Covid vaccine, and this caption:
“One of the reasons we’re keeping our vaccine checks and masking rules in place is Austin, who is immunocompromised.”
One person comments, “Tell him to stay home then.”
Harvey tells WBBM Newsradio: “Would that I were able to do that. That would be one thing. But still gotta pay the piper.”
Harvey said the reaction to keeping the mask and vaccine mandates has been almost totally positive.
“It is not our desire to live in a plague state, but we’re taking the steps we can in order to ensure the safest possible experience for ourselves and our customers.
Although Illinois this week lifted its mask mandate for many indoor public locations, Gov. JB Pritzker has said business owners should feel free to impose stricter guidelines as they see fit.
