(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An Orland Hills man has been accused of trafficking more than 35 guns, including ghost guns, machine guns, and rifles.

Federal prosecutors said 38-year-old Arshad Zayed sold three dozen firearms on seven occasions during 2022 and 2021.

They alleged he made those transactions at a car wash he managed in Matteson.

Authorities accused Zayed of dealing firearms without a license and said his inventory included machine guns capable of automatically firing more than one shot with a single pull of the trigger.

It all came to an end, they said, when a high-ranking Chicago gang member, to whom Zayed had been selling guns, decided to cooperate with law enforcement.

A detention hearing is scheduled for Friday at 2:30 p.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Beth W. Jantz.
