CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The union representing more than 100 laid-off employees of the Signature Room and Signature Lounge filed a lawsuit Monday against the venue's owners.
The restaurant and lounge, on the 95th and 96th floors of the former John Hancock Center closed on September 28.
The lawsuit filed by the union Unite Here Local 1, alleges Signature owners were required to provide written notice of its venue's closures and mass layoffs at least 60 days in advance.
Workers say they found out about the Signature Room and Signature Lounge closures last Thursday by email or by a post on the restaurant's social media sites.
The lawsuit seeks backpay and benefits for the laid-off staff.
