(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Arlington Heights police say residents do not have to worry after someone put up a sign warning of rat poison in their neighborhood.

The sign was put up in a neighborhood around Route 14 and Ridge Avenue. It warned there was rat poison and chicken bones scattered in the area, and that people should be careful to protect their dogs when out for a walk.

Arlington Heights police say two public service officers who are experts in animal welfare checked the community and found no evidence of rat poison. The police department said they received multiple calls about the sign.

They did say the sign around Somerset Lane and Eastman Street was near a garbage dumpster next to an apartment building.

Police also said they’ve not received any reports of sick or dead animals or wildlife. Police said they would regularly check the area.
