
BATAVIA, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police are investigating a physical altercation between a Batavia High School student and a staffer that occurred last Friday in the lunchroom and was caught on videotape.
The short video shows a male staff member restraining a female student in the lunchroom. He has the girl in a headlock and she is struggling to get away.
The Kane County Chronicle reported that she repeatedly yelled “Let me go!” and says, “I’m going to go up and beat your blank.”
What occurred before the recording started is unclear, but police said in a statement that the area is covered by surveillance cameras.
“The investigation includes interviews with the involved parties and nearby witnesses, as well as a review of all available video surveillance footage."
A spokesperson for the district said in an email, “school staff responded to an incident of assault and battery involving students. The district is aware of a video circulating on social media depicting a select portion of the incident.”
