Chicago police officers saluted Rin, a K9 police dog, as he walked out of the animal hospital on all fours.

Rin and a U.S. marshal were shot near Belmont and Laramie while trying to arrest 19-year-old Tarrion Johnson Thursday afternoon. Johnson was wanted for attempted murder.

Following Thursday’s shootout, authorities charged Johnson with an additional attempted murder charge for allegedly shooting at the marshal, who didn’t realize he was shot in the hand until he was taking Rin to the hospital.

There’s no word if Rin will return to service.
