
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in Gary are investigating multiple incidents that occurred at an apartment complex on Waverly Drive on Saturday.
The first incident occurred in the Westbrook Apartments around 2:30 a.m. where police say a man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in front of children.
According to Region News Source, a woman told police on the scene that 32-year-old Anthony Townsell, her boyfriend, sprayed her with mace before strangling and hitting her numerous times to the point of losing consciousness.
He then allegedly fled with the woman's three kids, ages 4, 5, and 6.
He was later arrested and charged with domestic battery and child neglect, among other felony charges.
The second incident that police are investigating at the Westbrook Apartments occurred around 8:30 p.m.
Officers arrived to a call regarding a man who had been stabbed. When they arrived they found a 33-year-old man lying on the floor with a stab wound to the stomach.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment but died from his injuries.
No one is in custody. Gary police are investigating.
