(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Cook County Sheriff’s Office has released images of the juveniles allegedly behind vandalism that all but destroyed the Homewood Acres Volunteer Fire Department last month.

The fire department initially said four kids were involved in the May 30 destructive spree, which was caught by security cameras. But the sheriff’s office said it was actually two hammer-wielding individuals who left and returned after changing their appearances.

Damage during the hours-long spree was estimated at more than $100,000.

One has been arrested and charged with burglary. Now, authorities are seeking to identify the second suspect.

Much of the damage at the facility will be covered by insurance. An online campaign raised more than $13,000.

Anyone with information is urged to call 708-865-4896 or 847-635-1188.
