(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in Northwest Indiana are on the lookout for students getting piercings in high school bathrooms.

The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office says high school bathrooms are often the scene of nefarious behavior but, because of privacy reasons, they are difficult to police.

Officials say a student was found with body-piercing paraphernalia last week. An investigation revealed the student was performing body piercings inside a restroom of a high school, which authorities did not name.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office reminded students that restrooms are for "completing the body's normal functions, and not for settling a disagreement, vaping, piercings, or any other form of a harmful or dangerous social activity!"
