(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Preservationists are hosting a “heart bombing” event at the old Will County courthouse this weekend to bring attention to the endangered building.

Since 2021, advocates for the “Brutalist”-style structure have been urging Will County Board members to redevelop the building rather than demolish it.

“Let's see what other options might be out there,” says Quinn Adamowski of Landmarks Illinois.

To help drive the message home, fans of the 1969-era building will be holding a “heart bombing” event to show their love. This will include making crafts and hearts and showering the building with support.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. at MyGrain Brewing Company and the Will County Courthouse.
