Governor Pritzker stopped by Chicago Heights Saturday afternoon to tout the benefits of solar power with a focus on equity.
Inside of the Christ for Everyone headquarters, the governor spoke glowingly about what he called the "first of its kind" Solar for All project in the area.
"From the very start, I've said that building a clean and equitable economy of the future must be done with a focus on the benefits that it can provide for communities that too often get left out and left behind," Pritzker said.
He estimated at the project and the recently passed Climate and Equitable Jobs Act will help save Chicago Heights residents thousands of dollars each year.
"That's right for people's pockets, and it couldn't come at a better time," he said. "I think we all know that we’ve seen costs rising for families and so many goods and services all across the country, not just here in Illinois.”
The governor also praised Illinois for being a leader in the critical fight against climate change, with the goal of 100% clean energy by the year 2045.
