Pritzker to deliver Northwestern's commencement address

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Northwestern University has announced this year's commencement speaker.

Governor JB Pritzker will deliver this year’s commencement address on June 12. Northwestern said the governor will also receive an Honorary Doctor of Law.

He is a 1993 NU Law graduate and according to the university, a long time supporter of the school who is "uniquely positioned to inspire" graduating students, according to Northwestern President Michael Schill.

“I am deeply honored to be invited to join Northwestern University students as this year’s commencement speaker,” said Pritzker. “As a Northwestern law school graduate, this institution holds a special place in my heart. Northwestern is a source of pride, not only for me, but for all of Illinois, and I look forward to joining the Class of 2023 for its graduation.”

This will be Northwestern's 165th commencement ceremony.
