A Prospect Heights woman has been found not guilty of a hit-and-run in north suburban Indian Creek that killed a Glenview man four years ago.
On Wednesday, a Lake County judge acquitted Amanda Cisneros-Elacio of two felonies: causing a crash with injury or death and failing to report it.
When the then-20-year-old was arrested in 2022, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office applauded the hundreds of hours its investigators put in to find the person they believed was responsible for hitting Wojciech Glowik.
Glowik was hit on Route 45 in shortly after 2 a.m. on October 9, 2021 and died a few days later.
Days after the crash, sheriff’s investigators found an Audi Q5 with front-end damage at a Wheeling body shop that they believed to be involved.
They believed Cisneros-Elacio was behind the wheel and charged her a few months later.
Glowk was remembered for being extremely hard-working, driven and kind.
The 22-year-old was awarded a bachelor’s degree posthumously from Lake Forest College, where he was studying business.
