NAPERVILLE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - For over 40 years, experts at the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line in Naperville have been helping people with questions or problems as they prepare their Thanksgiving turkeys. But, it's not a job for everyone.

Sue Smith has been answering questions at the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line for 25 years.

She says Butterball has high standards for its experts.

“We all have food and nutrition backgrounds,” Smith says. “Me personally, I’m a registered dietitian. I’m sitting next to a chef. There’s a food scientist next to me, a food stylist. So, we all have that background. We all are foodies and love to cook on top of that.”

But that's not all.

“We all have to attend Butterball University, it’s a training that all of us go through every year, and it’s how we prepare all the turkeys in different ways- a covered pan in our traditional open method, in a covered oven, in a convection oven,” says Smith. “We all have that hands-on training so we can relate and understand when those callers come in with those specific questions.”

If you have questions about cooking your turkey, you can reach the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line by calling 1-800-BUTTERBALL or visiting butterball.com.

You can ask for help even if your turkey is not a Butterball.
