(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Former University of Illinois basketball star Terrence Shannon Jr. is set to stand trial today in Kansas on rape charges.

The judge in the case ruled last week that the legal team for Terrence Shannon Jr. can show a video at the trial that they claim shows another man standing next to the alleged victim in a bar on Sept. 8.

His defense attorneys argue it was that man, not Shannon who penetrated the woman with his finger. They claim that man was accused by another 18-year-old woman of sexually touching her without her consent two weeks before the alleged incident.

While prosecutors lost the argument to allow video of the earlier incident, the woman accusing Shannon said in a hearing last month she was certain she identified the right person.

Shannon had been considered a prospect for the NBA draft later this month.
