CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Expect additional delays on the North Side portion of DuSable Lake Shore Drive (DLSD) for the next two weeks as repaving season begins in earnest.

From Lawrence Avenue to Hollywood Avenue, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has started repaving North DuSable Lake Shore Drive. It marks the first phase of a project that is expected to continue until late June.

For next five days (May 13 to May 17), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., CDOT will close two northbound lanes between Lawrence and Hollywood on DLSD. But, one lane will be closed 24/7 throughout the entire week.

Next week (May 20 to May 24), the road work will shift to the southbound lanes. From Hollywood to LaSalle Drive, two lanes will be shut down. The closure will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last until 4 p.m. As is the case in the northbound work, one lane will remain unavailable at all times.

CDOT promises lane closure updates throughout the next several weeks and notes the project schedule could change due to weather.

This month's work is in advance of the more significant resurfacing project that is expected to start in the fall.
