(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — On Wednesday, we reported on a scam that occurred at a Chicago Target store, now the same thing has happened to someone else.

In the first instance, someone who was asked to donate $20 for a funeral used the "tap to pay" function on an iPhone and discovered the person charged $4,500 dollars.

Now, we have reports of another attempted scam like this outside another Target, this time in Tinley Park.

Julie Hyzy says two young men were outside selling candy and cookies, saying they were raising money for college.

“He had a laminated thing with all kinds of logos on it, with Target logos and stuff, so I figured it was legit,” Hyzy said.

She agreed to pay $20, but he told her he could only take cards.

He ran her Discover card and then said he couldn’t use it. So, she handed him her Visa.

“And just then my Apple Watch sent me an alert. I looked at my watch and it said, 'Discover declined your purchase of $2,000.' I’m like, ‘whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.’ And I go, ‘what happened here?’ And basically he said he fat fingered. And I said ‘I’m not sure about this.’”

She grabbed the Visa back and left. Hyzy then called Discover and found out he charged more than just $2000.

“I go, ‘I really think that they were legit and feeling like a bad person because I wanted to do something, you know, nice in the world, you know. And she said, ‘No, they tried to run $1100 then.’”

The company thought the charges looked suspicious and denied both.
