CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Another local minor league baseball team says it will be back in business this summer.
The Schaumburg Boomers baseball team announced its 2021 season. The Frontier League team will play a full, 96-game schedule with home games at Wintrust Field.
Compared to past seasons, this season will start one week later in May and end one week later in September, according to Boomers Vice President and General Manager Michael Larson.
The Schaumburg Boomers took last year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and their stadium was used by the Chicago White Sox as their alternate training site during the 60-game Major League Baseball season. The parking lots were also used for drive-in concerts.
Team officials told the Daily Herald, social distancing will be enforced at the ballpark and fans must wear masks when they are not in their seats.
The team will also introduce a mobile ordering app, so food and drink items can be delivered to the seats. Concession stand windows will still be open.
The Chicago Dogs baseball team in Rosemont also announced its 2021 schedule last week.
