GRUNDY COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Minor injuries are being reported following a crash involving three school buses on northbound I-55 in Grundy County.
Illinois State Police said the accident occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m near Channahon. WBBM's Neil Fiorito said the crash was right before Bluff Road on the Smith Bridge over the Des Plaines River. The buses were carrying students from Reed-Custer Middle School in Braidwood, police confirmed.
There were no serious injuries.
ISP has blocked the right lane as crews clear the scene. The left lane is open.
Braidwood Police said all students were safely relocated off of I-55 and are now being returned to Reed-Custer Middle School.
The accident remains under investigation.
