CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Secret Service is getting ready for Chicago's Democratic National Convention.
Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) said that, in an effort to minimize disruptions during the August convention, the United States Secret Service on Monday began soliciting input from nearby residents and businesses who could be affected by the event security plan.
Secret Service, the FBI, Chicago Police, OEMC along with representatives from the City of Chicago and the Chicago 2024 Host Committee took part in surveying the needs of residents and witnesses located near McCormick Place.
Additional canvassing efforts around the United Center are scheduled for Thursday.
The United Center will be the convention’s primary location. McCormick Place will host secondary business at the convention. The Democratic National Convention is scheduled from Aug.19 - Aug. 22.
