CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for counties such as Lake, Northeastern Kane, McHenry, and Northwestern Cook.
The warning is in place until 9:45 a.m. The NWS says a line of severe thunderstorms was moving east at 60 mph and was located near Woodstock at 8:40 a.m.
Suburbs possibly impacted include: Elgin, Waukegan, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Hoffman Estates, Glenview, Buffalo Grove, Crystal Lake, Carpentersville, Wheeling, Park Ridge, Northbrook, North Chicago, Gurnee and Mundelein.
These storms contain wind gusts that could reach 70 mph and could produce penny size hail.
