(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Fine dining returns to Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

The ribbon cut, a grand reopening for Sikia. It opened first in 2008 and closed in 2020 at the beginning of the Covid pandemic.

The on campus, fine dining restaurant is operated at 63rd and Halsted streets by culinary students at Kennedy-King College. Beet Salad, Carpaccio, French Onion soup listed on the menu, perhaps some crème brulee.

Cecile De Mello is the Executive Director for Teamwork Englewood, sharing her testimony to the community impact of having a white tablecloth fine dining experience, beyond its use as a training tool for careers in the culinary world.

“Way in my 30s, I had never tried creme brulee. I was so intimidated by it. I tried it for the first time here at Kennedy King College with my family. And I have tasted creme brulee since then, all over the city of Chicago. And I'm here to say nobody makes it better than the students at Kennedy College!”

Sikia, fine dining prepared and served by the students of Kennedy King College, with lunch service Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays by reservation only.
