CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A line of strong thunderstorms has swept across the Chicago area during the morning commute.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entire Chicago area is in place until 11 a.m, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms entered the area during the 7 a.m. hour. The heaviest band appears to have moved out of the area, with the severe threat dissipating. However, the NWS says there remains a localized threat for thunderstorms strong winds and hail for the next hour or so.
AccuWeather says scattered, heavy storms are possible until the early afternoon. Once the storms leave the area, the air will turn cooler. It will remain quite windy, with temperatures falling steadily into the upper 50s by the early evening.
This morning is the second day in a row and third time in a week that the area will experience thunderstorms.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WBBM for the latest weather information.
