CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Public Schools has a warning for families returning from Labor Day travel.

Chicago Public Schools made it clear to parents: any unvaccinated student who traveled out of the state over Labor Day weekend will have to quarantine and won’t be allowed back in school.

The notice aligns with Chicago’s travel advisory, as well as recommendations from the CDC.

Whether a student shows symptoms of COVID-19 or not, if they aren’t vaccinated and traveled outside of Illinois, they need to stay home for at least seven days.

If after one week the student can show proof of a negative COVID test, they can return to class, otherwise they need to self-isolate for 10 days.

The district told parents any student that is required to quarantine will have access to remote learning and be provided take-home schoolwork.

CPS students who are fully vaccinated don’t need to self-isolate or show proof of a negative COVID test to return to the classroom.
