(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A northwest suburban high school football team has a new, losing record after being sanctioned by the Illinois High School Association.

The football team at Maine South High School in Park Ridge will forfeit all nine victories last season because multiple players on the team lived outside the school district boundaries.

Officials at Maine Township High School District 207 says they conducted an internal investigation after they were made aware of residency violations involving football players.

The high school told the IHSA once the residency investigation was complete.

Maine South went 9-3 last year and won its conference. Now, that record will stand at 0-12.

Also, the IHSA has placed the Maine South football team on probation through the end of next school year. The district superintendent says officials will make sure the violation doesn't happen again.
