(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The top assistant prosecutor in Kendall County has resigned, now that he's been caught up in a sex scandal that involves a woman facing criminal charges in Kendall County.

At the center of this: A woman named Jacquelin Noto, who is facing charges of DUI and obstruction of justice in Kendall County.

On Monday -- the same day First Assistant State's Attorney Mark Shlifka resigned -- she filed suit against Shlifka. Noto said she'd had a sexual relationship with him from March 2022 to March of this year, and that she "felt compelled to comply with the defendant’s amorous whims and sexual exploitation as he was First Assistant State's Attorney and might help her cases."

Also named in Noto's lawsuit is Shlifka's supervisor, Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis. The lawsuit accuses him of "reckless supervision."

A statement from Weis declined to comment on the lawsuit but confirmed Shlifka's resignation. WBBM Newsradio has asked Mark Shlifka to comment, and he has not responded.
