Suspects arrested after wild crime spree in the Gold Coast: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two men who police said committed two robberies, a carjacking and an attempted carjacking in the Gold Coast neighborhood were caught last night in a car they had stolen.

The first incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of North State Parkway.

A 26-year-old woman was getting into her car when she was approached by men who demanded her keys and property.  She was pushed to the ground and kicked before a passing car scared the men off.

The second incident occurred about 10 minutes later on the 1400 block of North Astor Street.

A 41-year-old man was sitting in his 2008 Audi sedan when they got in and demanded his wallet.  He gave it up and got out of the car and the men tried to steal it. Police said they couldn’t because of the manual transmission. They couldn’t drive a stick.

They ran off, and, police said, 10 minutes later, they were on the inner drive near Oak Street.

A 33-year-old man was delivering food. One pointed a gun at him and took off in his 2019 Nissan Sentra.

The car was later spotted and the two were arrested near 70th and Wood.
