CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The cast and crew at Teatro ZinZanni will be kicking off Chicago’s return to live stage arts.

Producer Stan Feig on Tuesday said they can’t wait to get back to their tent-like performance space on the 14th floor of the Cambria Hotel.

“We’ve been waiting, waiting patiently, preparing, organizing our cast and all of the production that has to be done,” Feig said. “And we’re ready to go.”

Fieg said producers used time off during the pandemic to enhance the air filtration system. The’ve also incorporated new sanitation technologies, he said.

Teatro ZinZanni began in Seattle more than 20 years ago and opened to Chicago audiences in July 2019. It’s been described as a mix of cabaret, vaudeville and a circus.

The grand reopening show will be July 8. “It’s time to laugh,” Feig said.

News about the return of Teatro ZinZanni comes as major drama companies in Chicago have also announced plans to return, by fall.
