(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An investigation continues into a shooting that killed two teenage boys in the Loop Friday afternoon.
Police said the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Washington and Wabash as a group of students exited Innovations High School. Several suspects in two vehicles got out and fired several shots, hitting a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, Deputy Chief Jon Hein told reporters.
The victims were identified as Robert Boston, 16, and Monterio Williams, 17, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The teens were pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The coat of a passerby was grazed by a bullet, but that person was not injured, said Hein, who called in the shooting an “isolated incident.”
Police said no one is in custody at this time. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police at (312) 744-8261.
