— The Chicago Dogs invite dog lovers to celebrate the summer baseball season during Bark at the Ballpark. Furry friends are welcome to take part in activities at the Rosemont ballpark Friday evening, including an on-field pet parade.
— Enjoy traditional choirs and contemporary urban gospel music in the city where the genre was born. The Chicago Gospel Music Festival showcases the top gospel artists in the country Saturday afternoon in Millennium Park.
— Raise a stein for the traditional German celebration of the season. Maifest Chicago in Lincoln Square offers four fun-filled days of German food, traditional keg tapping and the crowning of the Maifest queen.
— Lace up your running shoes and head to the Lincoln Park Zoo. The 45th annual Run for the Zoo features a 5k and 10k course for all ages. The zoo hopes to raise $45,000 to support global conservation efforts and world-class animal care.
— Elgin debuts its first-ever Pride event this weekend. Saturday’s family-friendly festivities include a Pride parade through the downtown area followed by a Pride Festival with a vendor market and food trucks.
— You can also catch the Buffalo Grove Pride Parade. This year’s celebration takes on a new route Sunday morning, stepping off from LaSalle and Buffalo Grove Road and ending at Rylko Park for a Pride Picnic.
— And explore the world’s largest collection of buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Pedal Oak Park offers guided bicycle tours of 21 picturesque historic homes including Wright’s Home and Studio.
