
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Parts of the Chicago area and northwest Indiana will see thunderstorms through 1 p.m. Sunday, with scattered storms possible later in the day, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Officials said all of the storms would produce lightning strikes and downpours, while the strongest storms could produce gusty winds and penny-sized hail.
The strongest storms were expected east of Interstate 57, the NWS warned.
The storm system was expected to move northeast throughout the day.
According to the NWS, scattered storms may remain in the area after 3 p.m.
