Some examples are people being kidnapped, in crashes, or being arrested.
To protect yourself:
-Remove social media posts that include your voice.
-Set up a code word that only your trusted circle of family and friends will know to help detect fraudulent calls.
-Always call mutual friends or loved ones directly to verify the legitimacy of any type of distress call.
