(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - This week’s heat wave means you may need to put out your trash earlier. Waste hauler Groot is starting an hour ahead of normal.
Division vice president for Groot Kiel Pennington said they’re trying to get their drivers off the streets by the hottest part of the day.
"Given the dangerous nature of the weather, we want to go out early," he explained. "This way we didn't have to cancel service all together and inconvenience our customers."
They’ve asked the leaders of the 92 communities they serve in suburban Chicago to let them start an hour early - as soon as 5 a.m. in places like Aurora and Naperville.
Not all customers are affected but, Elgin, Batavia, Glenview, Schaumburg, Brookfield, Willowbrook, Arlington Heights, and Carpentersville have announced the change on their Facebook pages.
If you’re not certain, Pennington advises to put out your trash and recycling the night before your pick up day.
