CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two people were killed in separate hit-and-run crashes on Interstate 94 late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, according to Illinois State Police officials.

The first crash happened around 10:45 p.m. in the Dan Ryan’s northbound lanes near 47th Street. Officials said a driver got out of a stalled vehicle in the left lane and was struck by another vehicle that failed to stop.

Authorities said the victim was declared dead at the scene.

The second hit-and-run took place shortly after 4:15 a.m. in the Dan Ryan’s southbound lanes — also near 47th Street — where a pedestrian was struck and killed.

No other details were released about either crash.

ISP closed the northbound lanes of the Dan Ryan until about 3:30 a.m. while officers investigated the scene. The southbound lanes were closed until about 5 a.m. to allow for an investigation.
