CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - It might not feel like it, but the Chicago area is gradually warming up.

It will remain unseasonably cold and blustery in the region, but, AccuWeather says, today high temperatures will crack the 20s, a slight improvement compared to Tuesday when air temperatures barely got above zero and wind chills were 20 below zero.

Sporadic snow showers and flurries will also be on tap. AccuWeather says that will continue into tonight. There won’t be much of accumulation, maybe a coating to an inch.

Tomorrow will be a carbon copy, still stubbornly cold and with wind chills in the single digits.

The below average temps will last until the weekend, as AccuWeather forecasts a high of 23 degrees.

Come Saturday, we could even flirt with 40 degrees.
