UPDATE: 23-year-old man denied bond after twice trying to escape from CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -A Cook County judge has denied bail for the Auburn Gresham man suspected of hitting a Chicago police officer with a car Friday in one of two dramatic escape attempts.

Tajze Mullins is charged with hitting a Cook County sheriff’s deputy earlier this month in the same BMW 7-Series, prosecutors said, he used to hit a 39-year-old CPD officer on DuSable Lake Shore Drive Friday night.

The Tribune reported an assistant state’s attorney said 23-year-old Mullins climbed through a ceiling grate in an interview room at Area Three headquarters and caused extensive damage before officers found him in the dropped ceiling.

The paper said despite giving a police a fake name, a database found two arrest warrants in Texas for engaging in organized crime and aggravated assault with a weapon.

A suspect wanted for attacking two Chicago police officers in separate incidents is now charged with trying to escape police custody.
