CARPENTERSVILLE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A lockdown at NW suburban Dundee-Crown High School has been lifted, school district officials announced.

In a message to parents, District 300 Superintendent Susan Harkin students and staff are safe and being allowed back into the building, located at 1500 Kings Rd.

At around 9:10 a.m., the school district issued a lockdown after the high school’s front office received a threatening phone call. Subsequently, police responded to the school and cleared the building.

Law enforcement found the threat to not be credible.

The school will remain open but will be in a shelter in place, Harkin said. Students will be situated in the field house, cafeteria or gym and will be dismissed at the normal time.

The school district also noted that Dundee-Crown will provide additional counseling support until end of the week for students who may want to talk about today’s events.
