UPDATE: Woman arrested in Wednesday night's fatal stabbing on North Side, police say

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police have arrested a woman suspected of fatally stabbing a man in Edgewater Wednesday night.

The police took the suspect into custody Thursday afternoon. Charges remain pending.

The man, whose age is unknown, saw the suspect trying to stab two people on a sidewalk in the 5200 block of North Sheridan Road when he intervened. The two began fighting just before midnight when she pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest, according to Chicago police.

The man was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No one is in custody and detectives are investigating.
