(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Friends and relatives gathered Friday to remember Derricka Patrick and plead for information that leads to the gunmen who killed the expectant mother and hair stylist.
A balloon release marked the memorial near 74th and Vincennes, where Derricka Patrick was fatally shot Wednesday night as she sat in her car.
Two gunmen approached her car and opened fire, according to Chicago police. Patrick, 29, died at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
She was the mother of a 9-year-old girl and was pregnant with her second child, her godmother Sabrina Harris said.
Philanthropist Early Walker said the tributes from Patrick’s mother and friends show that she was widely loved.
“She touched so many different individuals,” he said.
Chicago police are offering a $15,000 reward for information leading them to the killers.
Walker’s group I’m Telling Don’t Shoot is covering the funeral expenses.
