(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in Hobart are asking for help solving the murders of two young women — partners — who were killed in their apartment more than two months ago.
Family members of Nazirah Muhammad, 19, and Destiny Jackson, 20, joined activists passing out flyers where the young women were shot to death as they slept on Nov. 3 at about 4 a.m. Police said someone got into their apartment from a second-floor balcony.
It happened at the Haven Apartments at 418 Ruta Drive.

Jackson’s sister, Dominique Jackson, spoke at the police station.
“To now know that she didn’t even have a chance because she was sleeping, that bothers us so much,” Jackson said. “Our hearts are broken, our family is broken.”
Muhammad’s father Kevin Gover directed a comment to the killer, or killers.
“You stole opportunity,” he said. “We see how the world is today, dog eat dog, but you ain’t do it to another dog — you did it to two women. You’re lower than a dog.”
Hobart Police Capt. James Gonzales said some evidence is still being processed.
“We have no evidence right now to say that they were targeted,” Gonzales said. “We don’t have the motive; we can’t tell if they were targeted. Their lifestyles, by all accounts, it didn’t appear that they were living a high-risk lifestyle.”
The families agreed.
Gonzales said the investigators working on the case are passionate about bringing justice.
There’s a $5,000 dollar reward for information.
