CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The mystery continues over who painted over some iconic murals in Chicago's West Loop.

If you've ever walked down Green street toward Kinzie, you might've noticed the vibrant murals memorializing Chicago musician Juice WRLD and DJ Frankie Knuckles. But, several murals under the underpass and overlooking a nearby parking lot near the expressway have been painted over with brown paint.

It's not known who painted over them and the city's Streets and Sanitation crew said it wasn't them.

The Juice WRLD mural was painted in 2020 as a tribute to the Chicago rapper who died of an accidental overdose. Knuckles died in 2014.
