CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Attention Sox fans, first pitch time for today’s home opener has been moved up an hour.
Due to the forecasted rain showers for the late afternoon, the White Sox’s game against the San Francisco Giants will begin at 2:10 p.m., instead of the originally scheduled 3:10 p.m. start, the club announced Sunday.
As a result of the change, Guaranteed Rate Field parking lots will open at 11:10 a.m. Ballpark gates will open at 12:30 p.m.
All fans will receive a free 2023 White Sox magnet schedule.
Pregame on field festivities will start at 1:30 p.m. and will include former longtime Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
Temperatures should hover in the mid 50s during the game. The hope is that the scattered rain showers hold off.
The club noted tickets for today's game as well as the rest of the series are still available.
The White Sox, under new manager Pedro Grifol, kicked off the season in Houston against the defending champion Astros, earning a split in the 4-game set.
