(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – With nearly $8 million in funding, the Will County Clerk is taking delivery of new election equipment to replace some aging voting machines.
Clerk Lauren Staley Ferry said it’s about time they are able to replace their existing voting equipment.
New Tenex Software Systems will provide election judges with streamlined poll books and a new voter registration system. And the polling places will have Hart InterCivic machines to tablulate the paper ballots being marked by the voters.
The machines should be running for the 2024 primary.
Earlier this year, the Will County Board approved $7.8 million for the upgrade. Voters won’t notice much difference, but the performance and simplicity should be much improved, officials said.
