
ELK GROVE VILLAGE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - One person was killed and four others were injured in a crash late Tuesday night in Elk Grove Village.
Elk Grove Village Police said the accident occurred shortly after 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Biesterfield and Meachem. It involved two vehicles.
Police said their early investigation revealed a Lexus, with one adult and three minors, headed north on Meachem, ran a red light and hit a Honda that was going east on Biesterfield.
The one person in the Honda died at the hospital. The people in the Lexus were treated and released.
The Cook County Medical Examiner said the Honda driver was a 45-year-old woman from Des Plaines.
There is no word on any charges, as police continue their investigation.
The intersection of Biesterfield and Meachem was closed for nearly nine hours, as police investigated and cleared the scene. It reopened at about 8:20 a.m.
