Woman killed in Pilsen apartment fire

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A woman has died after a fire in an apartment building in Pilsen, on Chicago’s West Side.

Firefighters responded to an apartment building near 17th and Laflin at about 4 p.m. Monday.

Chicago police said seven people, all adults, were able to get out without injury, but a 49-year-old woman was taken to the hospital where she died.

The Cook County Medical Examiner is investigating as well as the fire department.
